Do I Need to Submit an MDAC If I’m Transiting Through Malaysia and Changing Terminals?
Yes, you are required to submit a Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) if you are transiting through Malaysia and changing terminals, even if your final destination is another country.
This is because changing terminals typically involves passing through immigration control, exiting the secure transit zone, and temporarily entering Malaysia. As a result, the Malaysian authorities consider this as an entry into the country, which requires a completed MDAC.
⚠️ Important to Know:
- If you remain within the same terminal and do not pass through immigration, the MDAC is usually not required.
- If you switch terminals (e.g., from KLIA Terminal 1 to Terminal 2), or travel to another airport (e.g., Subang), you must have a valid MDAC.
- Each traveler, including those in transit, is responsible for meeting this requirement if immigration is involved.
To avoid delays or issues at the border, we strongly recommend completing the MDAC at least 1–2 days before your arrival, even if you’re only in transit.
